After a long day of traveling, we made it to our hotel last night.
Our 6 bags did get searched last night in customs. It seems the catheters were the most difficult to explain. What are these? (Jared tries to explain an adult male catheter.) Why did we have them? We are donating them. Where? To a clinic in Cusco. Which clinic? I don't know the name. We are going on a mission to Ayaviri, Puno. Do you have any paperwork about this mission? Yes. Handed him the letter to the airlines drafted to try to get them to waive the bag fees. He reads it, gets confused. Are there more of you? Oh yes. 47. They will be here on Friday. He says, you should have paperwork for these items to be donated. I'll let you go this time, but tell your friends. DONE.
As soon as we left customs we saw a happy face of two guides and an "Ayaviri Mission" sign to take us to our hotel.
The weather was foggy and rainy. Our hotel is near the coast. The room is on the 4th floor with no elevator. Jared and the poor bell hop made several trips with those stinkin bags. The room feels very... Well... It isn't the Ritz. I feel like this is just preparing us for our hotel in Ayaviri, so we will say, "This isn't bad at all!"
Enjoying breakfast with Jared and then headed out to explore.
